5. Verbs following prepositions

In English a preposition is followed by the -ing form of a verb, not the infinitive.

For example:

He is good at getting to know people.
Sarah is quite fond of reading.

Write the correct form of the verb in brackets:

  1. (learn) Most people are interested in new things, as long as they are useful.
  2. (write) I am tired of essays every week!
  3. (get) Tom is not very keen on up early in the mornings.
  4. (hear) I look forward to from you.
  5. (lose) They were afraid of their jobs.
  6. (be) The students apologized for late for class.
