3. Verbs – Past tense

Put in the PAST TENSE of the verbs.

The cruise (be) going well until suddenly one morning the ship (stop) because the propeller (be) caught in a chain which they (need) to get off.

They (begin) to pull the chain in, which (take) a long time, but in the end they (manage) it.

Now they (see) an enormous plug on the end of the chain, and the captain (look) around. He (notice) that the islands (seem) bigger, and the cliffs (be) higher because the sea level (be) falling.
