Goldsmith

A goldsmith makes, repairs and sells jewellery. The goldsmith trade is an old one.

 

Occupational therapist

An occupational therapist organises activities for various groups of people, for example the physically or mentally disabled or the elderly. These activities may include arts and crafts, exercising or learning how to accomplish everyday tasks.

Hairdresser
A hairdresser cuts and treats customers’ hair. Some hairdressers specialise as women’s or men’s hairdressers.

 

National costume maker

A national costume maker makes and repairs bunads, the Norwegian national costume. Sewing, weaving and embroidery techniques are part of the trade. Being a national costume maker is an old trade.

 

Dressmaker and men’s tailor

A dressmaker repairs, designs and sews women’s clothing. A men’s tailor designs and sews men’s clothing. Some tailors design clothes themselves.

 

Handweaver

A handweaver designs and produces various textiles for clothes and furniture. As a handweaver you will create designs and patterns, and will choose materials. One of the tasks of a handweaver is repairing old textiles.

 

Shoemaker

A shoemaker repairs footwear, luggage, handbags and other leather products, in addition to making shoes.

Knitting craftsman

A knitting craftsman knits on a machine and by hand. The job involves the design and production of clothes. A knitting craftsman also creates new designs.

 

Exhibition designer

Exhibition designers work with installing displays. They make signs, posters, logos and exhibition settings.

 

Glass craftsman

A glass craftsman makes and works with useful and decorative articles made of glass. A glassblower produces glass art.

 

Duodji craftsman
A duodji craftsman works with Sami handicrafts, and makes both traditional and new products.
